Mark’s career journey has taken him from the fast-paced world of Wall Street to the helm of a thriving chemical manufacturer.

Mark grew up in Commack, NY, where sports and Boy Scouts played an important part in shaping his leadership skills. He studied accounting at Binghamton University and earned an MBA in finance from Hofstra University. His early interest in Wall Street was sparked by family friends working in finance at the time.

He began his financial career as a Managing Director for Bluestone Capital Partners, later holding key roles at prestigious firms such as Sterne Agee, PaineWebber, and Drexel Burnham Lambert.  His arrival at LSB Industries in 2014 marked the culmination of a remarkable thirty-year career in financial services.

Mark shares how he has always been drawn to the industrial sector, fascinated by the tangible aspect of businesses involved in creating products for consumers. He shares his thoughts on the importance of decisive decision-making in the commodity markets, and the need for teams to be confident in their choices, avoiding the pitfalls of second-guessing. Drawing a parallel between a producer's mindset and that of a trader, Mark highlights the necessity of understanding the unique considerations involved in the production of commodity chemicals.

Join us in this episode as we hear Mark discuss the importance of building quality management teams and share his perspective on a decade of executive leadership at LSB Industries, which he views in two very distinct phases, each with its own set of challenges and considerations.
